Irish Whiskey - Single Malt
Ireland is experiencing a whiskey renaissance with several new distilleries producing a range of styles from single malts and blends to traditional single pot still.
Teeling distillery has recently been exploring the effects of fortified wine casks on its Irish single malt through its limited edition Brabazon series. This third edition is the result of a collaboration between the Dublin distillery and a family-owned winery in Jerez, Spain. The whiskey was left to mature in Bourbon barrels for 11 years, before being finished for three years in 90-year-old Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks for an incredibly fruity, chocolatey and rich sensation.
Serving Suggestions: This whiskey is best sipped neat, or with a cube of ice.
Tasting Notes
An exceptionally aromatic and fruity whiskey with buckets of treacle, dates, prunes, figs, chocolate and honey. On the palate it’s even more honeyed and sumptuous, with dried stone fruits, crushed grapes, hazelnuts, Christmas cake spices and a dry, earthy finish.
