Scotch Whisky - Single Malt
Despite its reputation as a somewhat traditional spirit, Scotch whisky offers incredible diversity of flavour, with single malts and blends ranging from elegant, floral expressions to rich, fruity and chocolatey drams.
Hidden away in the Foggie Moss on Moray’s Buckie Road, a site once so secluded it was known for smugglers and illicit stills, Aultmore distillery has been quietly making single malt Scotch whisky since 1897. Once the preserve of blenders, Aultmore is building a name for itself as an elegant, citrusy and fragrant single malt, with its 12 Year Old expression at the fore.
Serving Suggestions: Although this makes a wonderful, delicate whisky to sip neat, try it in a Highball with plenty of good ice, soda water and a lemon twist.
Tasting Notes
The nose is delicate and fresh, filled with ripe, juicy pears, lemon zest and creamy vanilla, with an elegant floral accent of orange blossoms. The palate is beautifully oily and fruity, moving more towards lemon curd and flaky pastry with warm custard.
