New World Whisky - Swedish Single Malt
Today there are hundreds of distilleries producing whisky in countries without a traditional heritage in the spirit, from England and Wales to Israel and Sweden. These new whisky makers are providing innovation and a whole new world of flavour.
An innovative single malt whisky from Swedish pioneers Mackmyra, Grönt Te is inspired by master blender Angela D’Orazio’s love of Japanese green tea. A unique single malt, the whisky has been finished for 19 months in casks that have been previously filled with a blend of oloroso Sherry and a carefull selection of vintage Japanese green tea leaves, specifically Kaoribo Hojicha, Yame Sencha, Yame Gyokuro and Yame Matcha. The effect is an aromatic, fruity and autumnal journey of a whisky.
Serving Suggestions: Once you’ve enjoyed it neat, try topping with ginger beer or even chilled green tea over ice in a Highball, garnished with lemon zest. Better yet, fill it into a hipflask for a countryside walk.
A surprisingly fruity, lusciously sweet and aromatic nose with an earthy, autumnal aroma of forest floors and fresh herbs. On the palate it moves into caramelised apples and fresh bramble fruits, which tussle with that herbaceous earthiness and deep dry notes of liquorice, cloves and bitter dark chocolate.
