Our Guide To Summer Cocktails: Part Two

That’s right, we’re back for part two! Join us once again as we guide you through the best way to enjoy your summer: Urban Bar style. Complete with ingredients, and our bartender’s guide, let’s make this a season you won’t forget.

White Negroni Sbagliato

Top summer cocktails

Whilst it is more than acceptable to drink this cocktail year-round, you’re bound to truly realise its potential during these hot summers. A spin on the Negroni, of course, this new-wave version aims to alleviate the harshness of the original and tantalise your taste buds with a new level of refreshing excitement.

The recipe itself relies on substituting all of the ingredients for that classic Negroni, to create a great new phenomenon in the cocktail world. The big star here is the Suze: a french brand of bitters that roots the flavours of the gentian plant deep into the drink - Pair this with the white vermouth and sparkling wine, and you’ve got a real game-changer on your hands.

Ingredients and Recommendations

1 Ounce of Suze
1 Ounce of Bianco Vermouth (Recommended brand)
2 Ounces of Sparkline Wine (Recommended brand)

Bartender’s Guide

Ensure your Old Fashioned glass has one large chunk of Ice inside
Short and Sweet - add your ingredients together directly into the glass and briefly stir the drink with a bar spoon.
Garnish with a twist of orange zest.

Corpse Reviver Nr 2

The story behind the Corpse Reviver is a brutal one - therefore, it's the perfect go-to cocktail for all of your party animals getting rowdy this summer.

With the aim of raising the dead, this cocktail was used as a gut-wrenching hair-of-the-dog tactic for any hungover patrons stumbling into the bar during the early morning.

Don’t let the final elegance of this drink fool you; that’s exactly what your friend who made it for you is hoping you’ll think! Whilst this is by far one of the best Corpse Reviver cocktails, that dash of absinthe won’t be afraid to bite back later.

Ingredients and Recommendations

1 Dash of Absinthe (Recommended brand)
¾ Ounce of Gin (Recommended brand)
¾ Ounce of Dry Vermouth (Recommended brand)
¾ Ounce of Orange Liqueur (Recommended brand)
¾ Ounce of Fresh Lemon Juice

Bartender’s Guide

Gather up your ingredients and chill your Coupe glass
Rinse the glass with the Absinthe to round out that flavour
Add all the other ingredients to a shaker with Ice - Shake well for about 15 seconds or until the shaker is really cold.
Double strain the cocktail into the glass and garnish with your orange zest

Becoming one of the most popular cocktails of all time, the cosmopolitan is a classic that we don’t think will ever go out of fashion. A light and fruity tipple that’s also a queen of variation - honestly, that’s one of the best parts about the cosmo: you can change up the measurements for strength and flavour and its still going to hit right every time!

Ingredients and Recommendations

1 ½  Ounces of Vodka
1 Ounce of Copintreu
½ Ounce of Lime Juice
¼ Ounce of Cranberry Juice
Orange Peel for the garnish.

Bartender’s Guide

Fill a Martini Glass with cubed Ice, to chill the glass
Pour your ingredients in to an ice-filled shaker. Make sure to shake this one well!
Single strain the drink into your chilled glass - This is to land that signature sunset look!
Garnish with your orange peel. Lightly burn the orange peel for the real deal!
