A sweet and heavy drink, the Brandy Alexander recipe has equal parts cognac, creme de cacao, and cream. Like a chilled cousin of an Irish whisky, a Brandy Alexander is a fantastic after dinner drink.
This cocktail belongs to the Alexander family of drinks, which alternates various spirits in their recipes. Whereas the ingredient that tends to stay in most variations of the recipe is the cream. This gives the cocktail its unique dessert qualities.
A standard Alexander has gin as the main alcohol. This brandy variation is more broadly preferred as it has a more complementary sweetness. While, the fruity citrus tones of gin mixed with cream is a more acquired taste.
