British Gin
The UK is the motherland of gin, and remains its biggest producer. While gin is often believed to be a quintessentially English spirit, there many excellent gins made throughout the nation.
Made in the idyllic location of Stourton, this is an archetypal London Dry from the esteemed Cotswolds Distillery. The gin is made using nine botanicals including fresh lime and pink grapefruit peels, as well as local lavender and bay leaf. Cotswolds Distillery claims to use 10 times the average volume of botanicals to create its gin, yielding a high proportion of flavoursome essential oils.
Suggested serves: Classic Indian or aromatic tonic waters work well with the zesty and herbal flavours of this gin. Garnish with a bay leaf or sprig of rosemary and grapefruit. Also delicious in an Elderflower Gin Fizz cocktail, made with gin, elderflower liqueur, lemon juice and topped with Prosecco or soda.
Tasting Notes
The nose opens with floral juniper, followed by lime zest, cinnamon and sweet lavender. Juniper becomes earthier on the palate, supported by the additional flavours of coriander, hot black pepper, licorice and manuka honey. Subtle, smooth finish.
